Why Cancun is the Perfect Place for An F1 Circuit?

The upcoming F1 circuit in Cancun is going to be nothing short of spectacular. The track will be an impressive 9 km-long and feature a total of eleven turns, including two hairpins and two chicanes.
The design of the circuit was created to increase excitement levels for drivers and viewers alike, as each turn is engineered to test racers’ skills and keep the action thrilling. The circuit will also be constructed with a stunning elevated section that allows for fantastic views of the track, enhancing the experience even further.

A series of meetings began in early 2022 between both the government and private sector representatives of Cancun, the F1 executives, and local investors. The first of these meetings was held with Governor and her cabinet at the end of 2021 in order to discuss the project viability and potential implications of bringing a world-class Formula 1 race to Cancun
The subsequent meetings were held online and included members from each of the three major stakeholders in Cancun: F1 executives, local investors, and private sector representatives. These meetings discussed further details about building the circuit; including a proposed timeline, budget, and security arrangements.
The final meeting was held in mid-2022 with the CEO and president of F1, Stefano Domenicali. This meeting was a great success; it resulted in agreement for the project to move forward and plans to create the exotic circuit were put into motion.
Since then, there have been several public announcements from those involved, such as the Father of Mexico’s most famous driver announcing his support for the project. It is expected that F1 Cancun will be completed in time for its first race in 2025.
The major investment of 400-600 million USD into the Formula 1 circuit is expected to have a huge impact on Cancun and the surrounding region. The exact names of the individual investors haven’t been released yet, but it’s rumoured that Carlos Slim will be amongst them. The project is being developed by Cancun Motor Circuit S.A.P.I. de C.V., which was founded earlier this year in June 2020.
