Cozumel, a prominent tropical island, continues to serve as a crucial hub for global maritime traffic in the Mexican Caribbean. In an unprecedented increase, the volume of cruise liners anchoring in the Riviera Maya in the current year has surged over 100% compared to 2021. This development has drawn attention from Royal Caribbean International, a top-tier cruise ship corporation.
Michael Bayley, the President and Chief Executive of Royal Caribbean International, affirmed the company’s intent to launch its largest and most sophisticated ship in January 2024.
The ship is programmed to navigate towards the Mexican coastline. This substantial marine construct is designed to accommodate 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members. It will incorporate 16 pools, 20 decks, and 40 bars and restaurants, including a full-scale waterpark comprising 6 slides, making it the largest on any cruise ship.

Notably, the ship will be the first in the Royal Caribbean International fleet to operate on liquefied natural gas, making it the most eco-friendly cruise ship to date. Utilizing fuel cell technology, it will produce its own electricity and freshwater, highlighting the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The ship’s journey will commence from Miami, with scheduled stops in Cozumel and Mahahual.
