Mexico’s First PGA Tour – The Mayakoba Golf Classic

Mayakoba Golf

The Mayakoba Golf Classic has been running in the Riviera Maya since 2007, and is the first and only stop in Mexico on the PGA Tour. Located in the stunning resort area of Mayakoba, the Golf Classic is the perfect mix of world-class golf and stunning Caribbean landscape. This really is one of the most spectacularly beautiful courses on the PGA Tour. In true Mexican style, the Mayakoba Golf Classic seamlessly blends the tradition of golf and the vibrant culture of the Riviera Maya, to create one of the biggest golf parties around. You can watch some of the greatest names in golf, including Abraham Ancer, Aaron Baddeley, Bronson Burgoon, Zac Blair, Fabian Gomez and Brian Harman, and then let loose at one of the daily parties and events. For 2020, the Mayakoba Golf Classic has teamed up with Tequila Patron who will create a specialist Beach Club and put on a huge closing party on the last day of the tour. As this year will mark the 14th edition of the tournament in the Riviera Maya, PGA wanted to do something a little bit special using an amazing three-pillar initiative. They want to prove that the Mayakoba Golf Classic is so much more than just golf, and so Giving, Gourmet, Family was born.

Giving

Each year the Mayakoba Golf Classic not only takes on 600 different volunteers from the local areas to get involved and experience the tournament hands-on, but it also donates to several charities and gives back to the local communities in the Riviera Maya. They support important local institutions such as DIF Solidaridad and the Riviera Maya Red Cross. Since its establishment in 2007, the Mayakoba Golf Classic has donated $2.7 million dollars to charities and philanthropic causes.

Gourmet

To celebrate the rich Mexican culture and cuisine, the Mayakoba Golf Classic is offering a gourmet feast, with emphasis on local providers. The famous chefs of Mayakoba will work alongside local food truck vendors to give you an authentic-gourmet experience all week long.

Family

The PGA prides themselves on their family values and believe that golf should be shared and enjoyed as a family, no matter your age. That’s why this year, the Mayakoba Golf Classic is offering a special Kid’s Autograph Zone, fun games and activities, photo booths, memory walls and social media activations to keep the little ones happy all day long. They are also welcoming back a famous Trick Shot Artist who is sure to dazzle both children and adults alike.
